Fargo police on Tuesday were seeking a suspect in Monday night's shooting at Lindenwood Park.

Geraldo Torres, 17, was wanted for questioning in the shooting, which wounded another man in the right side of his abdomen.

Police said the victim was in intensive care, but awake and responsive, at Fargo's MeritCare Hospital. The victim's name was not released Tuesday.

Torres is a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, police said. He may be armed with a small-caliber handgun, they said.

In a press release, police said Torres and the victim were acquainted.

Sgt. Wayne Jorgenson said the victim, who is in his early 20s, arrived at the emergency room of MeritCare Hospital shortly before 8 p.m.

"It does not appear that (the shooting) would have endangered anyone else's life," Jorgenson said.

The man then underwent surgery, Lt. Tod Dahle said.

It was unclear how the victim arrived at MeritCare.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Torres is asked to call Fargo police at (701) 235-4493.
