Fargo Senior Services will soon be Valley Senior Services.
The name change, which will be announced Friday, will better reflect the agency's growth since 1971, said agency Executive Director Brian Arett.
The agency started as the Fargo Senior Commission on Aging, and its work was in the city limits, he said.
Then it began offering services in West Fargo, and later to Steele, Traill, Richland, Ransom Sergeant and Grand Forks counties. It also crossed the Red River into Moorhead and Dilworth, Arett said.
The agency now serves 7,000 square miles of territory, making the old name "a bit inaccurate," he said.

It will take six to 12 months to switch stationary and service directories to reflect the new name.
