Fargo to host Special Olympics

Fargo is hosting the 2008 North Dakota Summer Special Olympics Games today and Saturday at North Dakota State University. Events are scheduled at the Bison Sports Arena, Dacotah Field and the Ellig Sports Complex.

Fargo is hosting the 2008 North Dakota Summer Special Olympics Games today and Saturday at North Dakota State University. Events are scheduled at the Bison Sports Arena, Dacotah Field and the Ellig Sports Complex.

Volunteers are still needed to help with various events. For more information, contact Special Olympics North Dakota at (800) 279-4201.

Today's events at the Bison Sports Arena include bocce, volleyball, powerlifting and swimming. The Law Enforcement Torch Run through Fargo will begin at 4 p.m. at Island Park and end at Dacotah Field, where an opening ceremony will be held at 5 p.m.

Saturday features track and field events at the Ellig Sports Complex, with the closing ceremony at 2 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public.
