With a June 1 deadline approaching, the United States Hockey League is still waiting to grant a franchise in Fargo.
"All the paperwork is just sitting there for the signatures," said USHL commissioner Gino Gasparini, who remains confident Fargo will be granted a franchise - even though financing for a $34 million arena has yet to be finalized.
"From reports we are receiving, they are moving forward and are on the tail end of securing the bonds," Gasparini said referring to the Metro Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization that will own and operate the arena in southwest Fargo that will be home to the USHL team.
