FARGO — Workers from Xcel Energy in Fargo have been sent to Sioux Falls, S.D., to help out with repairs after three tornadoes swept through the area just before midnight Tuesday, Sept. 10.
No injuries were reported, but thousands were without power as of 4 p.m. Wednesday. Xcel's principal manager for North Dakota, Mark Nisbet, said four crew members were been sent to help restore power. Nisbet said the move was a "no-brainer" because Fargo workers are just returning the favor after getting help in early September.
"Their crews were up here just two weeks ago helping us with that Labor Day storm, so our crews understand that there's an urgent need to get down there and get the power on as quickly as possible," Nisbet said.
The National Weather Service confirmed three EF-2 tornadoes with winds around 125 miles per hour went through the Sioux Falls area. There's no estimate on when power will be completely restored.
