Fargoan appears on meth charges

A 46-year-old Fargo man made his first appearance Tuesday in Cass County District Court on a felony charge he made methamphetamine in his car.

East Central District Judge Michael McGuire set bail for Forrest Edward Dunn Jr., no permanent address, at $5,000 cash or bond. The judge also appointed attorney Steve Mottinger to represent Dunn.

If convicted, Dunn could be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Cass County deputies responded to a call Saturday about a suspicious person in a field near Argusville, court documents state.

Authorities later arrested Dunn on an outstanding warrant, and searched his car, where they found items used to cook meth, documents state.

After breathing ammonia fumes, one deputy was taken to a Fargo hospital. He was treated and released.

Dunn is scheduled to appear in court for a Dec. 5 preliminary hearing.
