A Fargo family recently received the International Family of the Year award at the Knights of Columbus 125th Supreme Convention in Nashville.

Dr. Richard and Sharmae Vetter and their nine daughters were honored Wednesday.

They had advanced to the international competition after receiving the North Dakota Knights of Columbus Family of the Year award in April, according to a news release.

"This year's International Family of the Year has what may be a unique distinction... there are nine girls, ranging in age from 17 years to 18 months," said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson in the release.

Richard Vetter is a family physician at Dakota Clinic and Sharmae Vetter was a dental assistant before becoming a stay-at-home mother.
