Fargo's work for CTE special needs honored

FARGO - A school district official and the special needs program of the career and technical education department at South High School were recently honored at a state conference.

FARGO - A school district official and the special needs program of the career and technical education department at South High School were recently honored at a state conference.

Sue Myxter, director of the career and technical education department, and South program instructor Nancy Melhorn were presented with the 2012 Director's Award of Excellence at the state Department of Career and Technical Education's professional development conference Aug. 6 in Bismarck.

The award goes to superior CTE programs.

South's program earned the honor by:

• Providing support to students with special needs.

• Providing transition services to students with special needs.

• Being active in district committees related to the work of the Career and Technical Resource Educator program, which serves, supports and advocates for students with special needs.
