The Fargo Education Association and the Fargo School Board have ratified a two-year contract for teachers.

Members of the teachers' union voted 433-78, or 85 percent in favor of the contract Tuesday. School Board members voted unanimously to approve it.

The contract adds $800 each year to the base used to determine teachers' salary. The contract also allows for a maximum of two voluntary professional development days paid at a teacher's daily rate.

The other main issue in the contract says teachers who are highly qualified in their field cannot be transferred to an area where they are not highly qualified.
