Fire destroyed a garage and workshop and damaged a West Fargo home Wednesday night.
Fire Chief Roy Schatschneider said the fire started when a propane-powered grill being used in the garage malfunctioned.
No one was injured.
Richard Roehl and his four children discovered the fire shortly before 6:30 p.m. when they went outside to check on their barking dog.
Roehl told firefighters the garage door went up and they saw smoke and flames.

Schatschneider said the fire spread to the house at 531 3rd St. Court and caused heavy heat and smoke damage.
"The wind played a factor in it," he said.
The fire also destroyed the sport utility vehicle in the garage and caused the glass to break in two windows at the house next door.
West Fargo firefighters had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, but stayed on the scene another hour, checking for hot spots and making sure the fire didn't flare up again.
The Red Cross helped the Roehls find shelter for the night.
