A Fargo Park District committee is expected to recommend that Houston Engineering study flooding problems at Edgewood Golf Course, Executive Director Roger Gress said.
The Fargo-based company was one of four firms that responded to the Park District's request for a study of intermediate flood protection alternatives at the golf course.
Edgewood borders the Red River in north Fargo. Parts of it flood when the river does, costing the district thousands of dollars in lost revenue and cleanup costs.
As a result, the district is seeking an analysis that could help them find an elevation the district could protect up to, Gress told the Facility Committee on Wednesday.
The district's Golf Committee, which will issue the recommendation to the Park Board, met later Wednesday.

With a $30,000 price tag, Houston Engineering isn't the cheapest option.
But Gress said he and other staff members like that the firm has done a similar study at a golf course in Minot, N.D.
They also liked the experience of Moore Engineering of West Fargo, which would charge $28,000, and Ulteig Engineers of Fargo, which would charge $31,350. A fourth firm, Lightowler Johnson Associates of Fargo, would charge $25,000.
Jim Larson, the district director of finance, said engineers will need to be able to balance business considerations with technical aspects.
The district would continue to accept lost revenue rather than construct flood protection that costs too much, he said.
The full Park Board next meets Feb. 12.
