Cass County officials received notice Tuesday of another delay in funding for about $11 million in pending 2009 home buyouts under a federal program.
The Office of Management and Budget of the Obama administration is notifying congressional leaders of the urgency of replenishing the buyout fund.
Funding for the disaster relief fund comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. County officials had hoped the buyout money would be in place before this year's spring flood, which now appears unlikely.
The state of North Dakota and Cass County remain eligible for home buyout assistance, but "the timeline is uncertain until the supplemental appropriation is passed by Congress," a county news release said.
