FARGO - After 17 days of sandbag filling operations, five local organizations were awarded donations by the city of Fargo earned through the "Denny's Bucks for Bags" program.
Thirty-one participating local organizations will receive a total of $7,700 in donations for 16,447 hours of volunteering. Organizations earned $75 for every 100 hours spent filling sandbags.
The top five organizations receiving funds were:
- Fargo Public Schools, 2,048 volunteer hours, $1,636.
- Salvation Army, 735 volunteer hours, $625.

- Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, 569 volunteer hours, $475.
- United Way of Cass Clay, 561 volunteer hours, $475.
- Theta Chi Fraternity, 381 volunteer hours, $325.
The groups were presented checks today during the 8 a.m. public flood meeting at Fargo City Hall.
