FARGO - The latest flood outlook for the Red River shows very little change from the previous prediction of a 90 percent chance for major flooding in Fargo-Moorhead, the National Weather Service said today.
Given the moisture in the snowpack, the spring flood will likely be similar to the 2009 flood, forecasters said.
A major flood occurs at 30 feet and above.
The Red River at Fargo-Moorhead has a 50 percent chance of reaching 38 feet, with a 20 percent chance of reaching 40.6 feet, and a 10 percent chance of cresting at 42.7 feet.
Last year's record flood crested at 40.84 feet.

Another 1 to 2 inches of moisture can be expected into mid-April, the weather service said.
Current moisture levels in the Red River Valley snowpack range from 4 to 6 inches across the southern half, with isolated areas in the headwaters areas reaching almost 7 inches of moisture.
