MOORHEAD - Volunteers will be needed today and throughout the week in Moorhead to fill sandbags and to assist in sandbag dike construction.
Volunteers are now needed to fill sandbags at the Moorhead Public Works Facility at 700 15th Ave. N.
The Volunteer Center at Minnesota State University Moorhead's Nemzek Hall ,17th Street and Eighth Avenue, will open at 3 p.m today. Volunteers will be dispatched to fill sandbags and construct sandbag dikes at flood-prone homes throughout the city.
Volunteers are asked to report to either the public works facility or Nemzek Hall and they will be transported to where they are needed.
Moorhead will begin delivering filled sandbags today to vulnerable properties along the river. Contact the Call center at (218) 299-5300 to request delivery of filled sandbags to your property.

For sand, homeowners may order loose sand from private sand suppliers and be reimbursed by the City. A city reimbursements for and original invoices are required for reimbursement.
The city will deliver and place 10 and 20 foot sections of plastic within each zone.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin constructing clay dikes today in areas throughout the city. Traffic routing and parking will be disrupted by this effort.
