MOORHEAD - Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said today during a stop in Moorhead that he thinks a task force charged with picking a locally preferred option for permanent flood control should advance a North Dakota plan to federal officials.
Pawlenty said a North Dakota diversion appears to have advantages over a Minnesota channel and he said he would like to see a North Dakota plan among those presented to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for advanced review and possible submission to Congress.
"It's my personal hope the Army corps will be open to studying more than one option," Pawlenty said.
