FARGO - WDAY AM 970 plans to broadcast a live conference call this afternoon with the governors of Minnesota and North Dakota.
Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Gov. John Hoeven of North Dakota plan to hold the conference call at 2 p.m. to discuss efforts to gain permanent flood projects in the Red River Valley.
The governors are among numerous local, state and federal officials gathering in Washington, D.C., today to talk about flood control efforts with the Army Corps of Engineers.
The Forum and WDAY TV sent journalists to Washington to cover the historic meeting, scheduled after record-setting flooding this spring in the Red River Valley. The river crested at an epic 40.82 feet in Fargo-Moorhead, a mark that now stands as the highest in recorded history.
Updates from meetings can be found on www.inforum.com and the www.areavoices.com/springflood blog during the day.
