FMCT names Emma winners

Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre honored actors and other volunteers at its recent fifth annual Emma Awards show.

Named after FMCT benefactor Emma K. Herbst, the Emma Awards are voted on by volunteers, patrons and the general public.

Honorees were:

- Best actor, Chris Boerner

- Best actress, Kellie Pifer

- Best supporting actor, Keith Schweigert

- Best supporting actress, Beth Lowell

- Best feature actor, William R. Balsley and Steve Poitras

- Best featured actress, Aimee Klein

- Best actor in a smaller role, Chris Kuhn

- Best actress in a smaller role, Becky Barry

- Best cameo, Mark Voigtschild

- Best Silver Follies male, Jim Martin

- Best Silver Follies female, Marlys Tandsater

The acting awards for youth were:

- Best actor, Timothy Holston

- Best actress, Erin Hanson

- Best supporting actor, Justin Spooner

- Best supporting actress, Jordan Engelke

- Best featured actor, Kyle Olson

- Best featured actress, Jade Beauclair

- Best actor in a smaller role, Noah Ford-Dunker

- Best actress in a smaller role, Cassie Falconnier

- Best cameo, Olivia Gravel

Technical awards were:

- Best stage manager, Pauline Kraav

- Best assistant stage manager, Sherry Shadley

- Best props manager, Sue Lamie

- Best scene shifter, Gabrielle Russell

- Best light board operator, Jade Choung

- Best sound board operator, Teresa Hurt

- Best dresser, Marilyn Gorman and Diane Kline

- Best costume builder, Diane Roehrich

- Best scene builder, Jeremiah Givers

- Best lighting crew person, Jeremiah Givers

- Best follow spot operator, Colleen Ford-Dunker

- Best hair and makeup designer, Gabrielle Russell

- Best volunteer that doesn't fit a category, Pauline Kraav, assistant director for "Charlotte's Web"

- Best family involvement, Cassie, Alicia, Timothy, and Emily Falconnier-Holston

In addition to the acting and technical awards, three special awards were given: The John Gifford Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Teresa Hurt, The Aubrey Hook Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Marilyn Gorman, and The Ann Vander Maten Community Contribution Award was given to Karla Pederson for her work to provide specialized services for disabled patrons.
