GRAND FORKS, N.D. - City officials are proposing a ban on the feeding of deer, to help keep urban deer populations in check.

Officials fear that the Greenway park system along the new Red River dike will attract more of the animals to the city.

Other cities such as Fargo have authorized archery hunting in city limits to deal with growing deer populations. State Game and Fish Director Terry Steinwand said Grand Forks might also have to eventually resort to that method.
