Former Fargo superintendent one of three finalists for ND higher ed board

FARGO - The former superintendent of the Fargo School District is one of three finalists nominated to a fill an open seat on the state Board of Higher Education.

FARGO - The former superintendent of the Fargo School District is one of three finalists nominated to a fill an open seat on the state Board of Higher Education.

Rick Buresh left his position as superintendent on June 30.

A screening committee on Monday chose Buresh, former state Sen. David Nething of Jamestown and Kari Reichert of Bismarck for the opening.

Incumbent board member Richie Smith of Wahpeton recently resigned. Gov. Jack Dalrymple has to choose someone to fill out the 11 months left on Smith's term.

Nething is a former Senate majority leader and chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He is leaving the Senate this year.

Reichert is a lawyer and a vice president of a cooperative data processing company in Mandan.
