Former MPR host plans to leave show

Former Minnesota Public Radio Midmorning host Katherine Lanpher said that she will leave her current job as co-host of Al Franken's show on liberal Air American radio.

Former Minnesota Public Radio Midmorning host Katherine Lanpher said that she will leave her current job as co-host of Al Franken's show on liberal Air American radio.

Lanpher, 46, said that she is leaving the show to write collections of essays and memoirs for the Time Warner Book Group. The book is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2006.

"I think any change, even if it's one that is positive, is exhausting and saddening. It's topsy-turvy and scary," she told the St. Paul Pioneer Press by telephone from her New York office.

Her last day on Franken's show is scheduled for Oct. 7.

Lanpher is a former Pioneer Press columnist. She hosted MPR's Midmorning show from 1998 to 2004, when she moved to New York to join new radio show for Franken.
