A former North Dakota state senator has died in Colorado, where he had been living.

Floyd J. Stromme, 73, Broomfield, Colo., died Wednesday at the Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital, Lafayette, Colo. He had previously lived at Devils Lake and near Crary in North Dakota.

Stromme, a farmer and construction company owner, was elected to the state Senate in 1980, representing District 15 (Ramsey County) and served through 1990, the year he ran unsuccessfully for the state Public Service Commission.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Gilbertson Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
