FARGO - The family of a Davies High School senior hospitalized here a traumatic head injury say the community's support must be helping.
According to Alexis (Lexi) Bolstad's Caring Bridge website, doctors took her off sedation Wednesday, and the family was hopeful of recovery. But by Thursday morning, her family asked everyone for a round of prayers when complications set in.
"Lexi's procedures were successful and went well," her family wrote on the site later that evening. "Everyone's prayers are making such a difference."
More than 48,200 have visited Bolstad's Caring Bridge site, and the high school athlete's friends and classmates hope to raise money for her at Saturday's extreme wilderness Viking Challenge in Fergus Falls.
Randy Fischer, Viking Challenge organizer, said a team of her friends will run Saturday's 5K.

Viking Challenge organizers also will partner with GreenSneakers, a nonprofit that collects used sneakers to raise funds for charity.
Sneakers can be donated at the Viking Challenge event at 21756 County Highway 22 near Fergus Falls or dropped off at the
GreenSneakers or Ringdahl Ambulance offices in Fergus Falls.
The first race of the Viking Challenge 5K will begin at 9 a.m., and waves of runners will take off every half hour. Fischer said the Bolstad team likely will run mid-afternoon.
Swamp Soccer and mud volleyball tournaments will be held, along with entertainment, food and a bonfire Saturday night.
Bolstad has remained at Essentia Health in Fargo since her Aug 4 accident. After undergoing two brain surgeries, Bolstad was heavily sedated. Doctors slowly warmed up her body to normal a temperature last week and continue to monitor her body's reactions.
