GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Grand Forks County Commission has suspended the county's jail administrator after questions about a contract for housing federal prisoners.
Gary Gardner said the rate for housing federal prisoners would increase from $70 to $110 per day to house federal prisoners. He later said he believed the rate would be increased to $110 in October, but federal officials didn't make the change.
The commission announced Gardner's suspension in June. He started the 30-day period on July 16.
