A Galesburg, N.D., farmer has been named department commander-elect for the North Dakota American Legion.
Wayne Satrom, a Vietnam War veteran, was elected to the post recently at the state's American Legion convention in Grand Forks.
Satrom and department commander Willie Pritchard's primary efforts will be ensuring that North Dakota veterans receive their entitled benefits by encouraging mandatory funding of the veterans administration health-care system. The North Dakota American Legion has about 23,000 members.
