Since 2007, Xcel Energy has sponsored an annual art contest with the winner's work serving as the official image for the Downtown Fargo Street Fair.

Images of the winning piece show up in everything from promotional brochures to T-shirts worn by fair volunteers.

This year, the contest invited kindergarten through fifth-grade students from the Fargo-Moorhead area to submit works of art that incorporated an architectural element from Fargo's downtown.

This year's winner is Madelyn Netz, a fourth-grader at L.E. Berger Elementary in West Fargo, and her winning drawing was unveiled Friday at a news conference hosted by the Downtown Community Partnership.
