Gordon H. Borstad, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes.

Gordon H. ("Boney") Borstad was born to Ida (Hanson) Borstad and Haaken ("Hicks") Borstad on September 20, 1913, in Blabon, ND. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1920, and Boney attended the Detroit Lakes schools and the University of Minnesota.

He was active in football, hockey, and band in high school and played in the University of Minnesota band. He was the manager of the Detroit Lakes City Band and played with the El Zagel Shrine Band.

Boney and his family owned and operated the Graystone Garage in Detroit Lakes until the 1960's. He later worked for the city of Detroit Lakes and was the last meter man in Detroit Lakes. He also drove the school bus for the Schultz Bus Company in Detroit Lakes.

Boney married Gwen (Dahl) on June 4, 1937, in Detroit Lakes.

Boney and Gwen loved Detroit Lakes and especially Round Lake. They were loved by all who knew them and enjoyed everything they did, especially gardening and cooking.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen; his parents; and brothers, Orville and Harris. He is survived by his twin sister, Gladys Clark, Silverton, OR; his brother, Bruce, Del Rio, TX; children: Clark (Carmen), Hans (Suzanne), and Eric (Janis); grandchildren: Fredrik (Margaret), Leslie (David), Sandra, Dianna, Gregory (Stacy), William, Michael (Becky) Weekly, Luke Weekly, and Adrienne Weekly; and great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jane, Alexandra, Grant, Gwen, Cody, Jessica, Alexis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A family and friends reunion was held on July 12-13, and family memorial services are pending.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Nursing Center and Lincoln Park Assisted Living Center for the wonderful care they gave to Boney.
