The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department said Friday that it has received federal authorization to train on its unmanned aircraft system at night.
It's only one of two law enforcement agencies nationwide to get such authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration, it said.
The department's UAS unit has deployed six times since May on missions that include checking erosion control measures on the Turtle River and searching for suspects.
