BISMARCK -- A state Labor Department investigator said if he is elected to the Public Service Commission in November he can envision wind towers and wind farms in every part of our state.
Ron Gumeringer, 48, of Bismarck, announced Tuesday he is seeking the Democratic-NPL nomination for the commission seat currently held by Republican Kevin Cramer. Cramer was appointed by Gov. John Hoeven last year and intends to run for the six-year term, though he has not made a formal announcement.
Gumeringer continues a series of news conferences around the state today and Friday.
He also sought the party nomination for the PSC two years ago but lost to Bob Stefonowicz of Wildrose, who announced just before the party convention and he was endorsed over Gumeringer.
Since then, Gumeringer said he has traveled the state meeting Democrats as a prelude to another campaign.

He said he has wanted to run for statewide office since he was 10 years old, but added, Tuesday, "The campaign will not be about me, but about the consumers of North Dakota."
He said he will strive to keep the state's working families and their utility bills in mind. He said the current three-member commission does that, "but there needs to be more."
The native of Esmond has been a state employee for 16 years. He is a compliance investigator at the Labor Department.
