WAHPETON, N.D. - Authorities arrested a Hankinson woman Friday on suspicion she embezzled more than $69,000 from a drilling company.

Kathy Coppin, 34, is accused of overpaying herself, improperly using a company credit card and failing to deduct health-care costs from her paychecks at Falk Bros. Well Drilling, said Richland County prosecutor Ron McBeth. She's also accused of cashing unauthorized company checks, McBeth said.

A theft charge filed in Richland County District Court focused on activity between July 2002 and March 2005.

No one at Hankinson-based Falk Bros. Well Drilling was available Friday afternoon to comment on the case.

McBeth said he believes Coppin worked there as an office manager.

Robert McConn, a Fargo attorney working for Falk Bros., reported Coppin's activity, the Richland County Sheriff's Office said.

Coppin bailed out of jail Friday. A message at her home was not returned.

She will likely make her first court appearance Tuesday, McBeth said.
