Harlan Wilker Wallum son of Julius O. and Reberdia (Wilker) Wallum was born Sept. 15, 1928, at Grafton, ND. He attended school in Hoople, ND and graduated from Edinburg (ND) High School in 1946. He received his B.S. degree in education from Valley City (ND) State Teachers College and a Masters Degree with honors from UND in Grand Forks, ND. He taught in Buffalo, ND, and then moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where he became Principal of Rossman Elementary School. He was united in marriage to Esther Steinke on June 17, 1964, at Parkers Prairie, MN. He transferred to Lincoln Elementary School, where he was Principal from 1977 until his retirement in 1985. He and Esther moved to Fargo in 1997.

"Har" as he was lovingly known, was an avid Bison fan and enjoyed all sporting events and the arts. His love of horse racing led to many trips to Winnipeg, Canada. In his younger years he loved to fish and hunt in the nature of northern Minnesota.

He was currently a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo and formerly of Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. He was a Bison Booster and a member of the Elks, Eagles and many other organizations.

Har is survived by his wife Esther; sister and brother-in-law, Julie(Wallum) and Tom Pierce of Seattle, WA; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilynn (Mrs. Kenneth) Mattson.

His humor and wit will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Funeral service: Thursday, October 16, 2003, 11:00 am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo,ND

Visitation: Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, MN, from 4-7 pm with a 7pm prayer service and from 9am until service time at the church in Fargo.

Interment: St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Parkers Prairie, MN
