HARWOOD, N.D. - As part of reconstruction work at the Harwood interchange bridge deck, the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 29 will be reduced to a single lane under the Harwood structure today.
A release from the state Department of Transportation states that toward the end of the week and during daylight hours only, I-29 traffic at the interchange will be detoured up and down the ramps in the northbound and southbound lanes to allow for bridge deck demolition.
It is expected the demolition work will take two days.
During construction:
- The cross road at the Harwood Interchange will be reduced to one lane of traffic during reconstruction.
- Traffic will initially be controlled by flaggers.
- Once concrete barriers are in place, a traffic control signal system will be used to control the single-lane cross-road traffic.
- Traffic speeds will be reduced to 25 mph on the cross road.
- Interchange ramps will remain open to carry traffic.
