A 19-year-old Hawley, Minn., man pleaded guilty Thursday in Clay County District Court for making terroristic threats in connection with a May vandalism spree.
Kolbi James Smith said he threw a can of paint with a threatening note attached to it through the window of a Hawley home May 11.
Smith said his intended target was the home of a police officer, but he wasn't sure he hit the right house.
Smith also pleaded guilty to a theft charge stemming from an incident at the Dilworth Wal-Mart in June, admitting he violated terms of probation in a number of earlier cases.
Under the terms of a plea agreement stemming from the vandalism case, Smith would resolve all of the cases by serving 38 months in prison that had been stayed in connection with a conviction for burglary. He must also pay restitution.

As part of the plea agreement, a first-degree criminal damage to property charge linked to graffiti sprayed on buildings in Hawley, including a church, is to be dismissed.
A sentencing hearing is set for Nov. 2.
A co-defendant in the May graffiti incident, Justin Grant Hinkle, is scheduled for a December trial on charges of first-degree criminal damage to property and terroristic threats.
