FARGO — Vitalant has people donating more than just blood during the pandemic.
Pilots from around the region have been donating flights through Fargo Jet Center.
Because the pandemic grounded major airlines, Vitalant couldn't get blood to hospitals around the country in time.
On Wednesday, Aug. 5, a volunteer pilot will fly over 10 boxes of blood donations to Billings, Montana with the new partnership.
WDAY spoke to Vitalant who says this new kind of donation is also saving lives.
"It's really exciting to see people step up and I don't even think how much of a life changing situation they are in, but it really does make a huge impact in a lot of people's lives," said Jennifer Bredahl, Community Ambassador Director, Vitalant
Vitalant is looking for more local pilots and hopes to continue the partnership after the pandemic.
