VALLEY CITY, N.D. - Former Barnes County jailer Moe Maurice Gibbs will make his first court appearance in February on six sexual assault-related charges for incidents involving five female inmates.
The charges include two felony counts of Class A gross sexual imposition, a Class C felony count of sexual abuse of a ward and three Class B misdemeanor counts of sexual assault.
Barnes County District Court Judge Mikal Simonson will preside over the 8 a.m. Feb. 6 initial appearance and preliminary hearing. Court-appointed attorney Ross Brandborg will represent Gibbs.
Gibbs, 34, is scheduled to face trial June 19, 2007, in Minot on a Class AA felony murder charge in the Sept. 13 death of Valley City State University student Mindy Morgenstern.
The Valley City man is also faces a Class A gross sexual imposition charge for a 2004 Fargo rape.
