A man convicted in Cass County of raping a young girl appeared in Clay County District Court Friday on similar sex abuse charges.

Luis Ignacio Hernandez, 29, is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

In May 2003, a 12-year-old girl reported to police that Hernandez raped her at a Fargo motel. The girl also told police Hernandez had sexually assaulted her one to three times a week at a Moorhead residence since she was 7, court records say.

Hernandez is serving 12 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in November of the Fargo assault.

Friday was his first appearance on the Clay County charges.
