High-risk patients to receive flu shots

Fargo Cass Public Health will offer flu shots to high-risk individuals during the first three weeks of November. High-risk patients are those more likely than the average person to suffer severe complications from the flu.

Fargo Cass Public Health will offer flu shots to high-risk individuals during the first three weeks of November.

High-risk patients are those more likely than the average person to suffer severe complications from the flu. Those eligible for flu shots are:

- People over age 65.

- People with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and lung disease.

- People with suppressed immune systems.

- Pregnant women.

"If you fall into one of these groups, please make an appointment today for a flu shot," said Ruth Bachmeier, director of nursing at Fargo Cass Public Health. "We have plenty of vaccine for high-risk patients, and the shot is the best way to protect yourself from dangerous complications of the flu."

Fargo Cass Public Health encourages high-risk individuals who live in Fargo to go to one of two clinics in the city limits:

- 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cross Roads Senior Center, 2525 17th Ave S. Call (701) 298-3976 for an appointment.

- 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8 at the NP Depot, 701 Main Ave. Call (701) 232-7936 for an appointment.

High-risk residents who live outside the city can take advantage of clinics throughout Cass County, including in West Fargo, Horace, Harwood, Gardner, Casselton and Kindred.

Fargo Cass Public Health expects to offer flu shots to the general public in mid-November. Information on these clinics will be announced next month.
