FARGO – The West Fargo man who was killed in a motorcycle crash as he tried to merge onto Interstate 29 on Friday night has been identified.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said David Lee Heim, 51, died at the scene of the crash at the junction between I-94 and I-29.

The patrol said the accident happened around 6:10 p.m. Heim, who was on a Harley-Davidson, was behind a Toyota Camry driven by Kathy Johnson, 55, Fargo. Both had been eastbound on I-94 before getting on the ramp to merge with southbound I-29.

The Toyota stopped at a yield sign and Heim rear-ended the car. He was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said. Johnson was not injured.
