North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven said Friday he likes the idea of a half-cent sales tax in Cass County to spur economic development.
In an interview with WDAY-AM radio, Hoeven said he supports the concept of the tax, which is being promoted by a group of local business leaders.
While Hoeven won't officially endorse the plan, he said it would be an effective tool in attracting jobs to the county and boosting the region's economy.
If approved, the tax would be in effect for 12 years. Cass County voters will decide the issue on June 10.
