A longtime area radio announcer will be honored today for his 7,500th broadcast.

Arlyn Lang, a Napoleon, N.D., native, has spent his entire 25-year career at KVOX, using the moniker "Hopalong Cassidy" since 1994. The station, Froggy 99.9 FM, will broadcast from The Venue from 5 to 7 p.m., with local country bands October Road, The Roosters and the Bryce Niemiller Project playing from 5 to 9, said Lilly Pad, KVOX's promotions director. Admission is free.

Area mayors have proclaimed today "Hopalong Cassidy Day."
