MOORHEAD – School children in Moorhead and many other communities in western Minnesota got to sleep in a little Friday morning, thanks to ice on the roads.
Moorhead, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Ulen-Hitterdal, Detroit Lakes, Norman County West, and Bagley were amongst those districts starting two hours late.
Win-E-Mac, Mahnomen, Ada-Borup, Lake Park-Audubon, Fosston, Fertile-Beltrami, Marshall County, Waubun-Ogema-White Earth, Park Christian and St. Joseph’s in Moorhead, and Circle of Life School in White Earth were all also two hours late due to ice on the roads.
A school spokesperson for Detroit Lakes Public Schools said that they had been forced to close or start late on six different days last winter, but always because of snow – never ice.
