"I'm proud of Shanell for joining the Marines to further her education and going from a quiet and reserved girl to becoming a Humvee driver in the transportation motorpool. She was deployed to Kuwait on March 30, 2003. She joined the Marines and left Fargo in July 2002, taking her basic training at Parris Island, N.C., and graduating in the top 10 of her class."
