With a week remaining before the filing period closes for candidates running for office in Clay County, so far only incumbents have filed for seats up for election this year.
The candidates and the offices they are running for include Bill Bergquist, sheriff; Lori Johnson, auditor; Paul Krabbenhoft, soil and water supervisor; Brian Melton, county attorney; and Bonnie Rehder, recorder.
Also, Kevin Campbell and Jon Evert are running to keep their spots on the Clay County Commission.
The filing period for candidates opened May 18 and closes Tuesday.
