Rock pianists Billy Joel and Elton John are heading to the Fargodome, returning for a repeat of a similar twin bill in 2003.
The pair will bring its "Face 2 Face" tour to the dome on Saturday, May 2. Tickets will be in three price tiers - $54, $99.50 and $179.50 - and will go on sale at the dome and through Ticketmaster on Jan. 31. The news comes after earlier media reports suggesting, but not confirming, the concert.
The combination of John and Joel drew about 22,500 fans to the Fargodome in 2003, and that's about how many tickets will be available for the May concert, said Rob Sobolik, general manager of the dome.
This is the third major Fargodome booking made public in the last two months, including upcoming gigs by the Eagles and Kenny Chesney. At the news conference where the concert was announced Thursday morning, Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker said the string of big shows was "just marvelous for our community."
