A man arrested in Fargo after walking away from a Ramsey County jail work-release program appeared Friday in East Central District Court in Fargo.

Judd Kunkel, 25, pleaded not guilty before Judge Wade Webb to a felony charge of reckless endangerment and misdemeanor charges of fleeing/eluding a police officer, DUI and driving under suspension.

Kunkel was arrested early Thursday after he and another man, Terry Clauthier, 20, led Cass County sheriff's deputies on a car chase that started near 52nd Avenue and 45th Street South in Fargo and ended at Highway 17 and 52nd Avenue north of Horace. The two men jumped out of Kunkel's vehicle at that spot and ran; deputies captured Kunkel but Clauthier got away and remained at large Friday.

Dick Johnson, facilities director at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake, said the men didn't return Wednesday from work release jobs in Devils Lake.
