Joggers found a 55-year-old Moorhead man dead in north Fargo early Thursday, Fargo police said.

Authorities do not believe his death resulted from foul play, said Fargo Sgt. Kevin Volrath.

People called the police at 5:51 a.m. after seeing a man lying on his side in the 700 block of North River Road, Volrath said.

The man was dressed in a long-sleeved shirt and blue-jeans, and was identified as Gerald D. Stoetzer, police said.

The man, who had had a history of health problems, was probably taking a walk when he stopped to lean against a tree. Then he likely sat down, and, when he tried to get up, fell over, Volrath said.
