John Johnsrud, 98, passed away July 20, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, ND. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 25, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City, ND. Rev. Tim Swenson will officiate and burial will be in Garden Cemetery, rural Watford City. Visitation will be at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM family services and for one hour before service time at the church on Friday.
John was born May 2, 1905, near Leeds, ND. He was just 6 months old when he came with his parents, Ole and Janna (Karlstad) Johnsrud to homestead in Garden Township, northeast of Watford City.
In 1930, he married Alice Nelson and they were actively engaged in farming until 1981, when they moved to Watford City. Alice passed away in 1982. In 1985, John was united in marriage to Wilma Eklund. Both Wilma and John entered the Good Shepherd Home in 1998. Wilma continues to reside at the home.
John is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons and their wives, Myron (Muriel) of Pelican Rapids, MN, Merton (Karen) of Bismarck, ND, and Douglas (Bonnie) of Watford City, ND; five grandchildren; eight great-grand children; and one sister, Alma White of Jamestown, ND.
