Jon A. Abentroth, 17, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, October 2, 2004, in Grand Forks. Jon was born to Vince and Lori (Duggan) Abentroth in Rochester, MN, on January 14, 1987. The son of Vince and Tracy (Helgerson) Abentroth, Jon grew up in Grand Forks, attending Kelly Elementary School, Schroeder Middle School and was currently a senior at Red River High School in Grand Forks.
He was an active member of both the Red River cross-country and track teams, where he had a passion for long distance running. He loved hunting and fishing, which he often did with his dad and dogs. His summers were filled with trips to the lake and winters with snowboarding. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Jon is survived by his parents, Vince and Tracy Abentroth, Grand Forks, ND; sister, Aimee, and brother, Matthew both of Grand Forks, ND; his grandparents, Ray and Lorraine Abentroth, Cummings, ND, Dale Duggan, Grand Forks, ND, Arral and Donna Helgerson, Grand Forks, ND; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding Jon in death were his mother, Lori Abentroth and maternal grandmother, Helen Duggan.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5:00--7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 5, 2004, with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service and one hour before services all at Sharon Lutheran Church.
Burial: Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
