Joseph Carl Riveland, 21, of Breckenridge, MN, died on Sunday, October 17, 2004, near Watertown, SD.

Joseph Carl Riveland was born February 7, 1983, in Breckenridge, MN. He attended Breckenridge Elementary School and graduated from Barnesville High School in 2002. Joey was active in track and choir in Barnesville, and played guitar and piano. Following graduation he attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Joey went on to continue his education at Lakes Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD, where he was active on the Student Campus Activity Board and captain of his softball team.

Joseph was very outgoing and was a "people person." Those who knew Joey loved him. He was always willing to help others, and always made time to spend with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Wahpeton, ND.

He is survived by his parents: Lynn and Deborah Riveland, Breckenridge, MN; two brothers: Michael (Shari) Riveland, Breckenridge, MN, and their children, Alyssa, Kristin, Bailey and Jarrett, Justin (Emily) Riveland, Horace, ND; maternal grandmother: Joan Skog, and maternal great-grandmother, Antonia Skog, both of New Effington, SD; uncle: David (Lisa) Skog, and daughter, Maria, New Effington, SD; paternal grandmother: Clara B. Riveland, Virginia Beach, VA; aunt: June (Ivan) Ankers, Virginia Beach, VA; uncle: Lyle Riveland, Bloomington, MN, and his children, Jerusa and Janelle; Lynn's brothers and sisters: Owen, Robert, Bev, Barb, Ted, Sharon and Clare; Joseph's Godmother: Lucille Larsen, Rosholt, SD.

He is preceded in death by: his grandparents: Benjamin P. Riddle, Irving Riveland, Dwayne Skog and Carl Skog.

Pallbearers: Michael Riveland, Justin Riveland, Jerrod Boesen, Donnie Anderson, Daniel Whaley and Scott Gilberg.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 20, 2004, 4:30 P.M.-8:30 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN.

Funeral: Thursday, October 21, 2004, 11:00 A.M. at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Wahpeton, ND, with Pastor Ray Kelch officiating.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND.
