A 25-year-old Fargo man appeared Thursday in Cass County District Court for felony charges related to a fight outside a bar.

Mithad Kapo, 4404 9th Ave. Circle S.W., faces one count each of aggravated assault and simple assault on a police officer.

East Central District Judge Ralph Erickson set bail for Kapo at $5,000 cash or bond.

Fargo police received separate complaints about a stolen stereo and an assault early Sept. 8 at The Rock, 901 40th St. S.W., according to court documents.

When Officer William Ahlfeldt arrived in the bar's parking lot, Kapo prevented the policeman from checking on a person lying on the ground.

The officer pushed Kapo out of the way, but Kapo began wrestling with Ahlfeldt, documents state.

Kapo pushed Ahlfeldt backward, knocking over 27-year-old Brent Clinton of Fargo.

Clinton struck his head on the pavement. An ambulance took him to Innovis Hospital, where he was treated in the intensive care unit for a skull fracture.

No information was available on Clinton's condition.

His next court appearance is a Nov. 21 preliminary hearing.
